Weekend Intensive Retreat, 3 – 5 May 2018
With Mukesh Gupta, from Varanasi, India
Inspired by the teachings of J. Krishnamurti
Freedom from the Known
Freedom is at the core of Krishnamurti’s teachings. Freedom is the first and the last step. Freedom is not at the end of some gradual evolution but at the very beginning. This inner psychological freedom cannot be given by others but it comes naturally with the choice-less awareness of oneself, through direct perception, unbiased observation and total listening to “what is”. In this intensive retreat we are going to explore and work together as friends and co-travelers on some of the fundamental questions confronting us:
- Is there a freedom from psychological suffering, hurt and fear?
- Is my mind a store house of accumulated conditionings, prejudices and images of thousands of years and is there a freedom from all this..?
- What is the art of deep observation, deep listening and choice-less awareness?
- What is the right place of knowledge and thought and when does it become a hindrance ?Is there something beyond the field of the known?
- What does it mean to be fully present, fully alive, awake and aware?
Program: Our entire day will consist of introductory talks, meditative dialogues, experiments with silent observation, listening and self-enquiry, meditation, including short video talks of J. Krishnamurti. In between the sittings there will be short sessions of “Sensory Awareness”, movement, touch and practical explorations of seeing and listening, facilitated by Susanne van Kimmenade.
The primary intention is that our entire day becomes a meditative process by taking a complete break from our daily mechanical routine and allowing our minds and hearts to deeply rest, rejuvenate and open up to new perceptions.
This retreat is an open invitation to all those friends who are are exploring a different way of living . In order to participate in this retreat you do not need any previous knowledge of any teachings or philosophy; what you need is a simple heart and mind, which is open to listening, learning and wondering…
